Removal and Installation
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
WARNING: When the battery ground cable has been disconnected wait at least two minutes before proceeding to avoid the possibility of accidentally deploying the air bag(s). Disconnect the battery ground cable. Failure to follow these instruction will result in personal injury.
2. Remove the driver side instrument panel lower panel.
1 Remove the bolt covers.
2 Remove the five instrument panel lower instrument panel bolts.
^ Remove the courtesy lamp from the lower instrument panel cover.
3. Remove the steering column lower shroud.
^ Remove the three screws.
4. Remove the steering column upper shroud.
^ Remove the two screws.
5. Center the steering wheel and lock in position.
6. Disconnect the steering column shaft from the flexible coupling.
^ Remove the bolt and rotate the clamp plate.
7. Disconnect the electrical connectors on the right-hand side of the steering column.
1 Disconnect the windshield wiper switch electrical connector.
2 Disconnect the air bag module electrical connector.
8. Disconnect the electrical connectors on the left-hand side of the steering column.
1 Disconnect the multi-function switch electrical connector.
2 Disconnect the speed control electrical connector.
9. Remove the steering column.
^ Unclip the wiring harness.
^ Remove the four retaining bolts.
^ Slide the steering column outwards to disengage the retaining tab and remove the column.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
