Shift Linkage: Description and Operation

The transaxle shift control linkage consists of the following components:
- a column-or floor-mounted transaxle range selector lever
- a cable connecting the column or floor shifter to the transaxle manual control lever
- brake/shifter interlock system
- an ignition/shifter interlock cable on floor-shift vehicles
