Radiator Removal and Installation
Special Tool:
Removal
Caution: Do not mix standard (green) coolant with extended life coolant (orange). If mixing occurs, drain engine cooling system and refill with originally equipped coolant type. If this contamination occurs, the service interval on extended life coolant will be reduced from 6 years/150,000 miles to 3 years/30,000 miles.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove the battery.
3. Remove clip retaining constant control relay module and position module aside.
4. Remove battery tray.
5. Remove radiator cap.
6. Raise vehicle on hoist.
7. Remove radiator splash shield.
8. Drain engine cooling system.
9. Remove radiator mounting bracket assembly.
10. Remove lower radiator hose.
11. Partially lower vehicle.
12. Remove upper radiator hose.
13. Remove radiator overflow hose.
14. Remove upper A/C condenser core retaining bolts.
15. Remove upper A/C transmission oil cooler tube clips.
16. Remove upper transmission oil cooler tube (7C410) using 3-8 inch fuel line disconnect tool 310-041 (T90T-9550-C).
17. Raise vehicle on hoist.
18. Remove lower transmission oil cooler tube clips.
19. Remove lower transmission oil cooler tube using 3/8 inch fuel line disconnect tool 310-041 (T90T-9550-C).
20. Remove transmission oil cooler bracket and position transmission oil cooler aside.
21. Remove lower A/C condenser core bolts and position A/C condenser core (19712) aside.
22. Remove radiator support bracket.
23. Remove radiator.
Installation
1. Position radiator.
2. Position radiator support bracket and tighten nuts ti 8 - 12 Nm. ( 71 - 106 in lb. ).
3. Position A/C condenser core and tighten lower A/C condenser core bolts to 5 - 7 Nm. ( 45 -61 in lb. ).
4. Position transmission oil cooler and install transmission oil cooler tube bracket. Tighten nuts to 5 - 7 Nm. ( 45 - 61 in lb. ).
5. Install the lower transmission oil cooler tube.
6. Install the lower transmission oil cooler tube clips.
7. Install lower radiator hose.
8. Install radiator mounting bracket assembly. Tighten bolts to 8 - 12 Nm. ( 71 - 106 in lb. ).
9. Install radiator splash shield.
10. Lower vehicle.
11. Install upper transmission oil cooler tube.
12. Install upper transmission oil cooler tube clips.
13. install the upper A/C condenser core retaining bolts. Tighten bolts to 5 - 7 Nm. ( 45 - 61 in lb. ).
14. Install radiator overflow hose.
15. install upper radiator hose.
16. Install battery tray.
17. Position constant control relay module and clip securely.
18. Install battery.
19. Connect battery ground cable.
20. Fill and bleed cooling system.
21. Start engine and inspect for leaks.
