POWER STEERING PRESSURE LINE ASSEMBLY CHANGE PROCEDURE TAURUS 3.0L 4V ENGINE

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

1. Disconnect the battery.

2. Drain the radiator fluid.

3. Drain the power steering fluid at cooler.

4. Install the power steering cooler line back after drain.

5. Disconnect the power steering pressure line at pump end.

6. Disconnect the distribution fuse box from bracket.

7. Remove the air box.

8. Remove the heater hose and radiator hose above transmission.





9. Slide the new power steering pressure line on top of bell housing inboard of the transmission dip stick.

10. Raise the vehicle and lower the rear of the subframe.

11. Disconnect the old power steering line from the gear end and remove line.

12. Install quick - connect fitting into gear.

13. Install the new power steering pressure line at gear end.

14. Return the subframe to its original position and torque bolts to 88-118 Nm (65-87 lb-ft).

15. Lower the vehicle.





16. Install quick-connect fitting into pump.

17. Connect the new power steering line at pump end.

18. Remove wiring from the RH valve cover stud.

19. Install the new power steering line brackets to valve cover studs and tighten 8-12 Nm (6-8 lb-ft).

20. Install wiring on RH valve cover stud.

21. Install the radiator hose and heater hose back into position.

22. Install the air box back to position.

23. Install the distribution fuse box back to position.

24. Connect the battery back to position.

25. Fill the radiator with fluid and bleed the system per section 03-03 of service manual.

26. Fill the power steering fluid reservoir.

27. Purge the air out of the power steering system per section 11 of the service manual.
