Flow of Diagnosis
NOTE^ Make sure the battery is fully charged before starting electrical diagnosis.
^ Prior to carrying out the Central Security Module (CSM) self-test make sure that both the driver and passenger doors are open.
1. Verify the customer concern by operating the system.
2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.
VISUAL INSPECTION CHART
Mechanical
^ Binding lock mechanisms
^ Binding linkage
^ Misaligned door
Electrical
^ Vehicle battery
^ Remote transmitter batteries
^ Fuse(s) 22 (40 A), 25 (20 A), 30 (7.5 A)
^ Wiring harness
^ Loose or corroded connector(s)
^ Circuit(s)
^ Door lock switch
^ Power door lock actuator
3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
4. If the NGS tester still does not power up, refer to the New Generation STAR tester manual.
5. Carry out the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. If the NGS tester responds with:
^ CKT 914, CKT 915, or CKT 910- ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, refer to Information Bus. Information Bus
^ NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for Central Security Module (CSM). GO to Pinpoint Test E. Test E: Remote Panic Feature Does Not Operate Correctly
^ System passed, retrieve and record the continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs and carry out self-test diagnostics for the Central Security Module. Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
6. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to Central Security Module Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index. Diagnostic Trouble Code Tests and Associated Procedures
7. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, proceed to Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
