Brake Pad: Service and Repair

Removal
1. Loosen the wheel nuts.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove the wheel.





4. Remove the brake pad retaining clip.





5. Disconnect the brake pad wear sensor electrical connector (if equipped).





6. Detach the brake pad wear sensor electrical connector (if equipped).





7. Detach the caliper.
1 Remove the bolt covers.
2 Remove the bolts.
- Secure the caliper out of the way to prevent damage to the flexible brake hose.





8. Remove the outer brake pad.





9. Remove the inner brake pad.

Installation

1. CAUTION: If the pistons are pushed back into the housing, brake fluid will be displaced from the master cylinder.

CAUTION: Make sure that the brake disc faces are clean before installation.






Fully retract the brake disc caliper piston.





2. Install the inner brake pad.





3. Install the outer brake pad.





4. Install the caliper.
1 Install the bolts.
2 Install the bolt covers.





5. Attach the brake pad wear sensor electrical connector (if equipped).





6. Connect the brake pad wear sensor electrical connector (if equipped).








7. Install the pad retaining clip.
