Compressor HVAC: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Reclaim the refrigerant.
3. Raise and support the vehicle.







4. Remove the two front right-hand splash shield parts (wheel removed for clarity).







5. Remove the accessory drive belt.
^ Slacken the belt by turning the belt tensioner in a clockwise direction.







6. Remove the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S).
^ Remove the coolant tube bracket.







7. Detach the A/C compressor.
^ Disconnect the tube.
^ Remove the bolts.

NOTE: Seal the tube and the connection with plugs.







8. Remove the A/C compressor.
^ Disconnect the electrical connector.

INSTALLATION

NOTE:
^ Install new O-rings and coat them with refrigerant oil.
^ When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
