Heater Core: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Raise and support the vehicle.







4. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core.
5. Disconnect the vacuum line from the engine.
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Remove the floor console.







8. Remove the air bag diagnostic monitor and position to one side.







9. Disconnect the vacuum supply line from the vacuum reservoir tank.







10. Remove the screws from the heater outlet floor duct (housing shown removed).







11. Remove the heater outlet floor duct from the heater/evaporator core housing.
1 Remove the screw.
2 Slide the air duct upwards.
3 Release the retaining tabs on each side and remove the heater outlet floor duct.







12. Remove the heater core cover and core.
^ Release the four retaining clips and remove the heater core cover and core.

INSTALLATION







1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
