Right

Removal
1. Drain the engine coolant.
2. Remove the RH Heated Oxygen (H02S) Sensor.
3. Remove the camshafts.
4. Remove the twelve hydraulic lash adjusters.
5. Remove the Three Bar Engine Support.





6. Disconnect the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) backpressure transducer hoses at the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube.





7. Disconnect the EGR backpressure transducer electrical connector.





8. Remove the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube from the exhaust manifold.





9. Remove the bolt and stud and position the water bypass to one side.





10. NOTE: Remove the RH cylinder head with the exhaust manifold and EGR backpressure transducer bracket attached.

NOTE: Remove the bolts in the indicated sequence.

Remove the RH cylinder head.
^ Discard the gasket.





11. NOTE: Remove the nuts in the indicated sequence.

Remove the exhaust manifold.
12. Clean and inspect the cylinder head and cylinder block.

Installation





NOTE: The head gaskets must be installed over the cylinder head to block dowels.


1. Install a new cylinder head gasket.





CAUTION: Use care when installing the cylinder head. Damage to the cylinder block and/or the cylinder head may result.

NOTE: Make sure the cylinder head is installed in its original position.

NOTE: Tighten the bolts in the indicated sequence in six stages.

2. Position the RH cylinder head and install new cylinder head bolts with washers.
^ Stage 1: Tighten to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.)
^ Stage 2: Tighten 90 degrees.
^ Stage 3: Loosen 360 degrees in reverse sequence.
^ Stage 4: Tighten to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.)
^ Stage 5: Tighten 90 degrees.
^ Stage 6: Tighten 90 degrees.





NOTE: Tighten the nuts to 21 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) in the indicated sequence.

3. Install the RH exhaust manifold.





4. Lubricate new O-ring seals with coolant and install the water bypass tube.
^ Use Premium Cooling System Fluid or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M971344-A.





5. Install the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube to the exhaust manifold.





6. Connect the EGR backpressure transducer electrical connector.





7. Connect the EGR backpressure transducer hoses at the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube.
8. Install the twelve RH hydraulic lash adjusters.
9. Install the camshafts.
10. Install the Three Bar Engine Support.
11. Install the RH H02S sensor.
12. Fill engine cooling system.
