Load Test

The battery must be fully charged before performing the Starter Motor Load Test.
1. Set the parking brake and shift the transmission into NEUTRAL.
2. To prevent the engine from starting, disconnect the ignition coil electrical connector.

NOTE: Make sure that the rheostat is at the maximum counterclockwise position.

3. Connect Starter Alternator, Battery Regulator Electrical Tester (SABRE).
4. Connect the remote starter switch across the starter relay S-and battery terminal.
5. Turn the key to II (run).
6. Crank the engine with the remote starter switch and determine the exact reading on the voltmeter.
7. Stop cranking the engine and reduce the resistance of the carbon pile rheostat until the voltmeter indicates the same reading as obtained in step 6. The ammeter will indicate the starter current draw under load. Check this with the value listed in Specifications. Specifications
