ISSUE
A grinding/groaning/squeaking/squealing" noise when opening or closing the sunroof may be heard on some vehicles. This may be due to insufficient lubrication or dirt accumulation in the track.

ACTION
Clean the track and apply Krytox lubricant (available in Rotunda Squeak and Rattle Kit 164-R4900). Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Raise the sunroof to the fully open position.





2. From inside the vehicle, wipe as much of the existing grease out of the lower stationary LH and RH tracks (which run parallel to the roof line) as possible (Figure 1, Area A).

3. Apply krytox grease (164-R4906) to the stationary tracks.

4. From the outside of the vehicle, wipe as much of the existing grease out of the moveable LH and RH tracks (attached to the sunroof panel) as possible (Figure 1, Area B).

5. Apply Krytox grease (164-R4906) to the moveable tracks.

6. Apply Krytox oil (164-R4905) to a small brush, and from the outside of the vehicle apply it to the flocking at the front of the track (Figure 1, Area C).

7. From the outside of the vehicle, sparingly apply krytox grease (164-R4906) to the flocked seal which runs around the outer perimeter of the sunroof panel.

8. Cycle (open and close) the sunroof several times to distribute the Krytox and to verify the noise has been eliminated.
