Shift Linkage: Service and Repair

Disassembly





1. Unscrew the gearshift lever knob and remove the compression spring.
^ Remove the outer boot with the reverse gear release mechanism.





2. NOTE: Installation position of the spring.

Disconnect the angle lever.
^ Remove the snap ring.





3. Disassemble the angle lever.

2 Spring
3 Shim





4. Remove the bearing housing with the washer, reverse gear interlock mechanism and bearing shell.





5. NOTE: Only if the threaded pins are damaged.

Bend the retaining tabs back and remove the retainers with the threaded pins.

Assembly





1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
