Luggage Compartment Door Latch

1. Close the luggage compartment door. This is the primary position. The liftgate ajar indicator should not be illuminated on the instrument panel (ignition switch in RUN), and the luggage compartment door should be firmly against the seals.
2. Insert key into lock cylinder. Place left hand on the luggage compartment door above and to the left of the lock. Hold the luggage compartment door firmly with the left hand and slowly turn the key to release the liftgate.
3. Return the key to normal position and remove left hand from the luggage compartment door. The luggage compartment door should move off the seals slightly and be held by the secondary position catch in the liftgate latch.
4. If the liftgate latch fails this test, adjust the liftgate/luggage compartment latch striker to make sure both primary and secondary latch function.
