Liftgate Alignment

The liftgate should be adjusted for an even and parallel fit with liftgate opening and surrounding panels.

On wagon models, the liftgate can be adjusted:
- Up and down by loosening bolts retaining the liftgate hinge to liftgate.
- In and out by loosening screw, nut and through-bolt retaining liftgate hinge to body.
- Side to side (minimum adjustment available) by a combination of the above methods or by adjusting the striker on the body.

1. Shift or shim liftgate hinge as required.
2. Seal liftgate hinge to body with Silicone Rubber D6AZ-19562-AA (clear) or equivalent meeting Ford specifications ESB-M4G92-A and ESE-M4G195-A.
3. Tighten through-bolt and nut to 8-10 Nm (71-88 lb-in) using a Torx (R) T-25 bit and 10 mm wrench. Tighten remaining screw and nut to 25-35 Nm (19-25 lb-ft).
4. Install rear corner upper finish panel after alignment is complete.
