Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

1. Verify the customer's concern by operating the electronic door lock control system to duplicate the concern.
2. Inspect to determine if one of the mechanical or electrical concerns apply:

VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

Mechanical
- Binding Latches
- Damaged Door Lock Cylinders
- Damaged Luggage Compartment Door Lock Cylinder

Electrical
- Open Fuses:
- IP Fuse Panel:
^ No.4 (30 A) Fuse
^ No.22 (5 A) Fuse
^ No.8 (5 A) Fuse
^ No.20 (5 A) Fuse
^ No.12 (5 A) Fuse
^ No.26 (15 A) Fuse
^ No.23 (5 A) Fuse
- Loose Connectors
- Corroded Connectors
- Relays
- Switches

3. If inspection reveals an obvious concern that is readily serviced, correct the concern before continuing with Inspection and Verification.
4. If the concern remains after the inspection, connect the Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS)tester 418-F048 or equivalent to the data link connector located beneath the instrument panel to perform the Data Link Diagnostics Test. If the NGS responds with NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for the Generic Electronic Module (GEM), go to Pinpoint Test A. Test A: No Communication With Generic Electronic Module
If the NGS responds with NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for the Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) Module, go to Pinpoint Test B. Test B: No Communication With (RAP) Module
If the Data Link Diagnostic test is passed for the GEM or the RAP Module, retrieve continuous Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTCs) and execute self test diagnostics.
5. If self test is passed and no DTCs are retrieved, go to the Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
6. If DTCs are retrieved for the GEM, go to the GEM DTC Index. Generic Electronic Module Diagnostic Trouble Code Index
If DTCs are retrieved for the RAP module, go to the RAP Module DTC Index. Remote Anti-Theft Personality Module DTC Index

Rotunda Service Bay Diagnostic System (SBDS (R)) 418-F001 (001-00001) may also be used to diagnose this system.
