Hydraulic System: Description and Operation

These vehicles are equipped with a pedal-actuated hydraulic dual brake system. The system consists of the following:
^ power brake booster
^ brake master cylinder
^ brake pressure control valve
^ hydraulic brake tubes and hoses
^ front disc brake calipers
^ rear disc brake calipers or rear wheel cylinders
^ Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) components

The dual hydraulic system without ABS is diagonal split with the RH front/ LH rear as the primary circuit and the LH front/ RH rear as the secondary circuit.

Brakes, Rear
The rear drum brake system includes:
^ brake drums.
^ rear brake shoes and linings.
^ rear wheel cylinders.
^ rear brake backing plates.
^ brake shoe retracting springs, brake shoe hold-down spring pins and brake shoe hold-down springs.

The rear disc brake system includes:
^ single piston rear disc brake caliper.
^ rear disc support brackets.
^ rear brake shoes and linings.
^ rear disc brake rotors.
^ rear wheel brake hoses.
^ LH and RH rear disc brake adapter.


Brakes, Front
The front disc brake system includes:
^ disc brake calipers.
^ front disc brake rotors.
^ brake shoes and linings.
^ front brake hoses.


Dual Hydraulic Brake System
The dual-hydraulic brake system is a conventional, pedal-actuated system. The system consists of:
^ brake master cylinder.
^ brake pressure control valve.
^ brake tubes and hoses.
^ hydraulic brake line routing: LH front to RH rear and RH front to LH rear.
