Parking Brake System: Description and Operation

The parking brake system consists of the following features:
^ An independent foot-operated parking brake control actuates the rear wheel rear brake shoes and linings through a cable system.
^ A parking brake release handle extends from the lower portion of the instrument panel left of the steering column. Pulling this handle releases the parking brake.
^ The parking brake warning indicator is actuated by the parking brake control. The indicator warns the driver to release the parking brake control before driving the vehicle. If the indicator remains lit with the parking brake control released, a brake or warning indicator malfunction has occurred.
