ISSUE
A no reverse engagement condition may be evident on some vehicles. This may be due to the reverse clutch lip seals becoming sheared/torn during reverse engagement in extremely cold temperatures.

ACTION
If the no reverse condition was caused by sheared/torn reverse clutch seals, clean and reseal transaxle by referring to the appropriate Service or Workshop Manual procedure. Discard the reverse clutch seals in the Seal Kit (-7153-) if packaging date on the kit is between August 25, 1998 (082598) and February 26, 1999 (022699). Install revised reverse clutch piston Outer Lip Seal (XF1Z-7D403-AA) and Inner Lip Seal (XF1Z-7D404-AA). Seal kits with a packing date of March 1, 1999 (030199) or later will contain the revised reverse clutch piston seal.
