Shift Linkage: Description and Operation

The transaxle shift control linkage consists of the following components:
^ a column-or floor-mounted transaxle range selector lever
^ a cable connecting the column or floor shifter to the transaxle manual control lever
^ brake/shifter interlock system
^ an ignition/shifter interlock cable on floor-shift vehicles
