Timing Belt

Removal

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the drive belt (8620) and the drive belt tensioner (6B209).






3. Remove (A) three nuts and the (B) three bolts and remove the outer engine front cover.
4. Raise and support the vehicle.
5. Remove the RH engine splash shield.






6. Remove the bolt and the crankshaft pulley.






7. Align the timing marks.






8. Remove the timing belt.
1. Use a 8 mm Allen wrench and turn counterclockwise.
2. Insert a suitable holding tool to lock the timing belt tensioner in place.
3. Remove the timing belt
9. Inspect the belt for sign of oil contamination.

Installation

Note: Install the timing belt over the sprockets in a counterclockwise direction starting at the crankshaft (6303). Keep the belt span from the crankshaft to the camshaft (6250) tight while installing the timing belt over the camshaft.






1. Install the (A) timing belt and remove the (B) holding tool to release the (C) timing belt tensioner.






2. Rotate crankshaft two times and recheck the timing marks.






3. Install the crankshaft pulley.
4. Install the RH engine splash shield.
5. Lower the vehicle.






6. Install the outer engine front cover.
7. Install the drive belt tensioner and drive belt.
8. Connect the battery ground cable.
