Using SBT Battery Tester

Using SBT Battery Tester
1. Turn on the tester power by pressing ON/OFF. The tester will beep and the LCD display will appear.
2. Select 1 = BATTERY TEST.

NOTE: Use selection 2 CHRGD BATT TEST only after the battery has been fully charged according to manufacturer instructions.

3. Connect the test leads to the battery terminals.
4. Select 1 = CCA.

NOTE: Only use selection 2 = MCA/CA when testing a marine battery.

5. Enter the battery CCA and press GO.

NOTE: Always test the battery at the O.E.M. Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) rating. The CCA rating can usually be found on the battery label.

6. After the SBT completes testing, read the results.
- GOOD - The battery is good.
- GOOD, LOW CHARGE - Recharge the battery.
- BAD - Replace the battery.
- CHARGE RETEST - Change the battery according to manufacturer's instructions and retest using the CHRGD BATT TEST function. When using this option the CHARGE RETEST result will not be available.

Alternator, Regulator, Battery and Starter Tester Method
1. Connect the Alternator, Regulator, Battery and Starter Tester (ARBST) battery leads and press BATTERY TEST.

NOTE
- The BATTERY TEST AFTER CHARGE should only be used after the result CHARGE RETEST has been displayed and the battery has been recharged according to manufacturer's instructions.
- The ARBST red load lead is equipped with a battery temperature sensor that provides diagnostic tailoring, based on battery temperature. In the event that the temperature sensor fails, the ARBST will prompt the operator to select a temperature range as follows:
^ (7) 0 degrees F (- 18 degrees C)
^ (8) 32 degrees F (0 degrees C)
^ (9) 70 degrees F (21 degrees C)

2. Enter the battery rating units and press ENTER.

NOTE
- The battery rating is usually printed on the battery label.
- The battery rating units can be changed by selecting:
^ DIN
^ IEC
^ A-HR

3. The display will read TEST IN PROGRESS, while the battery is loaded, released and then loaded again. The test will last approximately 50 seconds.
4. Check the results:
- GOOD BATTERY - The battery is good.
- GOOD LOW CHARGE - Recharge the battery.
- BAD BATTERY - Replace the battery.
- CHARGE RETEST - Battery condition cannot be fully determined until it has been charged according to manufacturer's instructions. Once the battery is at a full state of charge then run BATTERY TEST AFTER CHARGE.

Using Power Sensor Plus Electronic Battery Tester
Follow the manufacturer's recommended test procedure.

Test Conclusion
The current reading (current drain) should be less than 0.05 amps. If it exceeds 0.05 amps after a few minutes, and if this drain did not show in previous tests, the drain is most likely caused by a malfunctioning electronic component. Remove the fuses in the interior fuse junction panel one at a time to locate the problem circuit.
