Alternator: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the generator drive belt.
1 Release the tension on the drive belt.
2 Remove the drive belt from the generator pulley.
3. Disconnect the H02 sensor harness clip from the generator bracket.
4. Position the generator bracket aside.
1 Remove the A/C line bracket bolt.
2 Remove the power steering pressure line bracket bolts.
3 Remove the generator bracket bolts.
4 Position the generator bracket aside.
5. Remove the generator bolts and position the generator aside.
6. Remove the generator.
1 Disconnect the two generator electrical connectors.
2 Remove the battery positive nut and washer.
3 Disconnect the battery positive cable and remove the generator.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
