Wheel Hub: Service and Repair









Removal
1. Loosen the wheel nuts.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove the wheel.

Vehicles with rear drum brakes





4. Remove the brake drum.
^ Remove the retainers (if equipped).





5. Remove the hub dust cap.





6. CAUTION: Use a socket to remove the hub nut to prevent damage. Remove the hub nut.





7. CAUTION: If the wheel bearing inner ring bore clip is displaced a complete new bearing must be installed. Using the special tools, remove the hub.

Vehicles with rear disc brakes





8. Disconnect the disc brake pad wear indicator electrical connector (if equipped).





9. Remove the parking brake cable retaining clip.





10. Detach the parking brake cable.
1. Pull back the parking brake lever.
2. Detach the cable from the parking brake lever.
3. Detach the conduit retaining clip.
4. Detach the cable and conduit.





11. Detach the caliper and anchor plate assembly.
^ Secure the caliper and anchor plate assembly to prevent damage to the flexible brake hose.





12. Remove the brake disc.
^ Remove the retainers (if equipped).





13. Remove the hub dust cap.





14. CAUTION: Use a socket to remove the hub nut to prevent damage.
Remove the hub nut.





15. CAUTION: If the wheel bearing inner ring bore clip is displaced a complete new bearing must be installed.

Using the special tools, remove the hub.

Installation

Vehicles with rear disc brakes





1. Install the hub.





2. CAUTION: Use a socket to install the hub nut to prevent damage. Install the hub nut.





3. Install the hub dust cap.





4. Install the brake disc.
^ Install the retainers (if equipped).





5. Install the disc brake caliper and anchor plate assembly.





6. Install the parking brake cable.
1. Install the cable and conduit.
2. Install the conduit retaining clip.
3. Pull back the parking brake lever.
4. Install the cable to the parking brake lever.





7. Install the parking brake cable retaining clip.





8. Connect the disc brake pad wear indicator electrical connector (if equipped).

Vehicles with rear drum brakes





9. Install the hub.





10. CAUTION: Use a socket to install the hub nut to prevent damage.

Install the hub nut.





11. Install the hub dust cap.





12. Install the brake drum.
^ Install the retainers (if equipped).

All vehicles





13. Install the wheel.
