Lower Arm LH






Removal





1. Center the steering wheel and lock in position.





2. Disconnect the steering column shaft from the flexible coupling.
^ Rotate the clamp plate to disengage.





3. CAUTION: When removing the floor seal do not damage the sealing clips.

Remove the floor seal from the bulkhead.
1. Release the retaining clips.
2. Disconnect the upper retainer.
3. Remove the floor seal.





4. Support the radiator on both sides using suitable pins.
5. Loosen the left-hand front wheel.
6. Raise and support the vehicle.
7. Remove the left-hand front wheel.





8. Remove the radiator splash shield.





9. Detach the radiator support brackets.





10. Detach the bumper support brackets.





11. Detach the air conditioning condenser (if equipped).

Vehicles with automatic transaxle





12. Detach the rear support insulator.

Vehicles with manual transaxle





13. Remove the rear support insulator center bolt.

All vehicles





14. Remove the front support insulator retaining bolts.





15. Remove the lower arm to wheel knuckle pinch bolt.





16. CAUTION: When the ball joint is separated from the wheel knuckle the ball joint seal must be protected to prevent damage.

Detach the lower arm ball joint from the wheel knuckle.
17. Using a suitable transmission jack, support the subframe.





18. Remove the subframe bolls.
19. Lower the subframe to gain access to the lower arm bolts.





20. Remove the lower arm nuts and bolts.
21. Remove the lower arm.

Installation





1. CAUTION: Make sure the bolt heads are uppermost.

Install the lower arm.
1. Position the lower arm.
2. Install the nuts and bolts.





2. Using the special tools align the subframe.
1. Push the guide pins through the subframe aligning holes.
2. Engage the locking pins.
3. Tighten the guide pin sleeve.





3. NOTE: Make sure the blue colored bolts are installed to the front of the subframe. Install the subframe bolts.
4. Remove the special tools (reverse the installation procedure).





5. Position the lower arm ball joint in the wheel knuckle.





6. Install the pinch bolt.

Vehicles with manual transaxle





7. Install the rear support insulator center bolt.

Vehicles with automatic transaxle





8. Install the rear support insulator.

All vehicles





9. Install the front support insulator retaining bolts.





10. Attach the air conditioning condenser (if equipped).





11. Attach the bumper support brackets.





12. Attach the radiator support brackets.





13. Install the radiator splash shield.
14. Install the front wheel.
15. Lower the vehicle





16. Tighten the wheel nuts.





17. Install the floor seal.





18. WARNING: Install a new pinch bolt. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

Install the steering column shaft to the flexible coupling with a new bolt.





19. Remove the radiator supports.
