Compressor HVAC: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Prepare the vehicle for A/C compressor removal.
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Perform the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure.
3. Remove both cooling fans.
NOTE: For ease of removal, remove the LH cooling fan first.
4. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories.
5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. Position the clamp out of the way.
3. Disconnect the compressor manifold and tube assembly. Remove and discard the O -ring seal.
- During installation, install a new O-ring seal lubricated with PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C), or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
4. Detach and disconnect the heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.
5. Disconnect the pressure cutoff switch electrical connector.
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Remove the coolant pipe assembly.
1. Disconnect the hoses.
2. Detach the wiring harness.
NOTE: The wiring harness is attached to the bottom of the coolant pipe and is not visible.
