Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Principles of Operation

The Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) system operates the low beam headlamps at a reduced intensity. The DRL feature is to be On when all the conditions are met:
^ The parking brake control is released.
^ The high beams/headlamps are not activated by another feature.
^ The ignition switch is in the RUN position.

The DRL feature does not affect the park lamps and operates independent of the state of the park lamps. Therefore, park lamps can be either ON or OFF when DRL function turns on the low beams.

The DRL system is cancelled by the generic electronic module when the conditions to run the DRL system are not met.
