Steering Column Shaft

Removal
1. Raise and support the vehicle.

2. CAUTION: The steering wheel must be in the locked position, or the lower end of the column wired in such a way that the steering column does not rotate, resulting in damage to the air bag sliding contact.

Note: Discard the upper and lower intermediate shaft-to-steering column shaft pinch bolts upon removal. Do not reuse; install new bolts.

While holding the intermediate shaft dash panel seal out of the way, remove and discard the pinch bolt and disconnect the coupler.
3. Lower the vehicle.

4. Remove and discard the upper and lower steering column shaft pinch bolts and remove the coupler.

5. Remove the three retaining nuts and remove the intermediate shaft and seal.

Installation

1. Using new fasteners, follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
