Compressor HVAC: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Perform the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove the two front right-hand splash shield parts (wheel removed for clarity).
4. Remove the accessory drive belt.
- Slacken the belt by turning the belt tensioner in a clockwise direction.
5. Detach the A/C compressor (FS10 compressor).
- Disconnect the tube.
- Remove the bolts.
NOTE: Seal the tube and the connection with plugs.
6. Remove the A/C compressor (FS10 compressor).
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
7. Detach the A/C lines.
NOTE: Seal the tube and the connection with plugs.
8. Remove the A/C compressor (FVS 090 compressor).
1. Disconnect the magnetic clutch - electrical connector.
2. Remove four bolts.
INSTALLATION
NOTE: Install new O-rings and coat them with refrigerant oil.
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
2. Accessory Drive.
1. Generator pulley
2. Belt idler pulley
3. Water pump pulley
4. Power steering pump pulley
5. A/C compressor pulley
6. Crankshaft pulley
7. Belt tensioner
3. Service the new Compressor with the correct amount of PAG Compressor Oil YN-12-C or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B. See: Refrigerant Oil Addition.
4. Evacuate and refill the A/C system.
5. Check the air conditioning system for normal operation.
