Ignition Key Release Interlock Actuator

Removal

Vehicles with 2.0L engine
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.





2. Remove the steering column lower shroud from the steering column.





3. Remove the steering column upper shroud from the steering column.

Vehicles with 2.5L engine
4. Remove the steering column.





5. Remove the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) transceiver ignition switch assembly.





6. Using a suitable electric hand drill and stud extractor remove the upper steering lock shield retaining bolts.





7. Using a suitable electric hand drill and stud extractor remove the lower steering lock shield retaining bolts.
8. Remove the steering lock shield.

All vehicles





9. Remove the key release interlock actuator.
1. Disconnect the key release interlock actuator electrical connector.
2. Remove the key release interlock actuator.
3. Remove the key release interlock actuator retaining screw.

Installation

All vehicles





1. Install the key release interlock actuator.
1. Install the key release interlock actuator.
2. Install the key release interlock actuator screw.
3. Connect the key release interlock actuator electrical connector.

Vehicles with 2.5L engine





2. CAUTION: When installing the steering lock shield make sure that no cables are trapped or damaged.

NOTE: The steering lock shield retaining bolts are designed to shear at the specified torque

NOTE: The steering lock shield retaining bolts must be hand started before tightening with a power tool.

Install the steering lock shield.
3. Install the steering column.

Vehicles with 2.0L engine





4. Install the steering column upper shroud to the steering column.





5. Install the steering column lower shroud to the steering column.
6. Connect the battery ground cable.
