Mirrors: Description and Operation

Interior And Exterior Mirrors:

The exterior rear view mirrors have the following features:
- power standard
- fold-away type
- controlled by the interior rear view mirror control switch

The interior rear view mirror:
- houses two light sensors to determine dimmer actuation.

The available automatic dimming feature:
- functions mainly at night with limited function at dawn or dusk.
- will change from normal to non-glare mode when headlight glare reaches the inside rear view mirror. The interior rear view mirror measures the brightness of the light from the rear of the vehicle. It automatically makes a correction in the reflective properties of the mirror and reduces the glare.
- automatically adjusts the sensitivity of the interior rear view mirror. From the non-glare mode, the interior rear view mirror returns to normal after a short delay. The delay begins when the glare goes away and eliminates readjustment of the interior rear view mirror as traffic moves behind or around the vehicle.
- function may be disabled by pressing the mirror-mounted MIRROR switch. A small indicator lamp is located on the RH side of the switch.
- will automatically lock the interior rear view mirror into the normal state whenever the transmission is placed in the REVERSE mode to provide a clear view when backing up.
