Removal and Installation1. Make sure the front wheels are in the straight ahead position.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute.
3. WARNING: To avoid the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings notes and instructions in the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) deactivation procedure.
Deactivate the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS).
4. Remove the clockspring.
5. Remove the bolts. Disconnect the two electrical connectors. Remove the multifunction switch.
6. Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector.
7. Disconnect the brake shift interlock solenoid electrical connector.
8. Label and disconnect the electrical connectors.
9. Disconnect and remove the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) sensor ring.
10. Remove the bolt. Disconnect the transmission range indicator (PRND21) from the steering column.
11. Remove the pinch bolt and disconnect the lower steering column shaft from the steering column lower yoke.
- Discard the bolt.
12. Remove the nuts. Position the steering column on the vehicle floor.
13. Disconnect the parking brake release vacuum hose extension from the parking brake release switch.
14. Disconnect and position the shift cable and bracket out of the way.
15. Remove the steering column from the vehicle.
16. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Reactivate the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS).
