Warning Devices
The driver warning chime provides the driver with an audible warning for safety belt not fastened, driver door open and lights on. The system consists of the following components:
- safety belt buckle with integral switch,
- ignition switch
- driver door courtesy light switch
- warning chime (integral to the central timer module)
The system uses a number of inputs to provide the driver with audible warnings.
The Central Timer Module (CTM) acts as the system monitor for the driver audible warnings. It receives inputs from the switches and triggers the warning chime.
A warning chime will sound for approximately six seconds when the driver turns the ignition to the on position. The warning will cease if the safety belt is engaged. The switch is an integral part of the driver safety belt buckle.
A warning chime will sound continuously when the driver door is opened and the key is in the ignition, on removal of the key the warning will cease. The switch is an integral part of the ignition lock cylinder.
A warning chime will sound continuously when the driver door is open and the vehicle lights are on. This warning is provided whether the key is in or out of the ignition and will cease when the lights are switched off.
The driver door courtesy light switch activates the system to give a warning for key in ignition and lights on, door open/ajar. Neither of the warnings will occur until the driver door is open.
