Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair



REMOVAL
1. Prepare the vehicle for condenser core removal.
1 Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2 Recover the refrigerant.







2. Remove the two bolts.

NOTE: The LH side of the condenser core is shown. The RH side is identical.







3. Remove the four scrivets and the grille.







4. Remove the two pin-type retainers.

NOTE:
- The RH side air deflector is shown. The LH side air deflector is similar.
- The pin-type retainers are located on the backside of the grille opening reinforcement and are not visible.

5. Raise and support the vehicle.







6. Remove the lower radiator air deflector.
1 Remove the five screws. Remove the air deflector, if equipped.
2 Remove the seven screws and the lower radiator air deflector.







7. Remove and discard the plastic wire tie.







8. Disconnect the condenser core refrigerant lines. Remove and discard the O-ring seals.
- During installation, install new O-ring seals lubricated with PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C), or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.







9. Remove the pin-type retainers. Remove the LH and RH side air deflectors.







10. Remove the bolts.







11. Remove the bolt.
12. Carefully lower and remove the condenser core.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
2. Evacuate, leak test and charge the A/C system.
