Exterior Lighting

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

The exterior lighting system consists of the following components:
- headlamp assemblies
- rear lamp assemblies
- reversing lamps
- license lamps
- front turn signal/cornering lamps
- side marker lamps
- high mounted stoplamp
- photocell and amplifier (if equipped) (located under the LH side of the defroster grille panel)
- multifunction switch
- headlamp switch
- brake pedal position (BPP) switch
- lighting control module (LCM) (located behind the LH instrument panel lower insulator rearward of the accelerator pedal)

Headlamps are vented to equalize pressure. When moist air enters the headlamp through the vents, there is a possibility that condensation can occur. This condensation is normal and will clear within 45 minutes of headlamp operation.

Police Option
In addition to the above listed components, a police option vehicle may include the following:
- front police auxiliary junction box (AJB) (non-fleet vehicle)
- police glove compartment relay/fuse center (fleet vehicle)
- police luggage compartment relay/fuse center (fleet vehicle)
- rear deck flashing lights (fleet vehicle)
- strobe lamp control module (fleet vehicle)
- light bar relay/fuse center (fleet vehicle)
- wig-wag module (alternates the flashing of the high beam headlamps) (located on the RH side of the engine compartment) (fleet vehicle)
- strobe/light bar control switch (fleet vehicle)

Lighting Control Module (LCM)
The LCM eliminates the electronic interference and heat associated with the thermoelectric devices used previously. The LCM is a microprocessor-based module that controls several vehicle subsystems. It responds to electrical input signals from various switches, sensors, and external modules.

LCM exterior lighting subsystem functions include:
- headlamps with autolamps (if equipped)
- turn signal lamps/hazard flasher lamps
- cornering lamps
- parking lamps
- battery saver
