Welding Precautions
WELDING PRECAUTIONSWARNING:
- If equipped with fire suppression system, depower the system. For important safety warnings and procedures refer to Fire Suppression System.
- The electrical power to the air suspension system must be turned off prior to hoisting, jacking or towing an air suspension vehicle. Failure to do so can result in unexpected inflation or deflation of the air springs, which can result in shifting of the vehicle during these operations.
1. If welding must be done on a frame, make sure the following requirements are met:
- If the frame is attached to the vehicle, the battery must be disconnected before using any electrical welding equipment.
- Do not use gas welding equipment; are welding is the only approved method.
- Use a temperature-indicating crayon to make sure that the temperature does not exceed 750 °C (1,400 °F).
- No welding should be done between the number 2 crossmember (aluminum) and the center sidemember.
