Body - Water Leak From The Roof Opening Panel Area

WATER LEAK - ROOF OPENING PANEL AREA -
BUILT ON OR BEFORE 11/18/2006

ISSUE
Some 2006-2007 Fusion, Milan, 2006 Zephyr and 2007 MKZ vehicles equipped with a roof opening panel and built on or before 11/18/2006 may exhibit a water leak in the rear center of the headliner. This may be due to water leaking from the roof opening panel glass frame area, into the inner channel of the roof opening panel seal frame.

ACTION
Remove the felt tape and clean the roof opening panel glass frame. Perform this procedure inside the vehicle. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Ensure the vehicle is parked in a well ventilated area.

2. Turn the ignition to the run position.

3. Slide the roof opening trim panel shield rearward.








4. Press and hold the roof opening panel control switch forward until the roof opening panel glass moves to the full vent position. (Figures 1 and 2)





5. On the rear center of the roof opening panel glass, look for a foam felt tape glued to the glass frame. (Figure 3)

a. If the felt tape is present proceed to Step 6.

b. If the felt tape is not present do not proceed with this TSB, follow normal diagnostics in Workshop Manual, Section 501-17.





6. Using a plastic or wood scraper remove the felt tape. (Figure 4)





7. Use Motorcraft� Metal Sur[ace Prep to clean and wipe the center part of the roof opening frame glass. (Figure 5)
