ISSUE
Some 2006 and 2007 Focus vehicles equipped with a MTX-75 transaxle, 2006-2007 Fusion/Milan vehicles built on or before 7/16/2007, 2006 Zephyr, and 2007 MKZ vehicles built on or before 7/16/2007 may exhibit a momentary front cv-joint clicking, grinding, rubbing, or crackling noise when first accelerating the vehicle after sitting in cold ambient temperatures below 20 °F (-6 °C). The noise in most cases will only last for a few rotations of the wheels and then go away. This may be caused by the grease in the outer cv-joint allowing metal to metal contact.

ACTION
Correct the condition by replacing the axle shafts by following Workshop Manual, Section 205-04.

NOTE
FOCUS AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE (ATX) VEHICLES ARE EXCLUDED.
