ISSUE
Some 2006-2007 Fusion, Milan, 2006 Zephyr and 2007 MKZ vehicles equipped with Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC) may experience an unintended temperature change in set temperature or fan speed. This can occur when the driver unintentionally depresses the remote steering wheel switches while gripping or turning the steering wheel. This is caused by the software within the EATC.
ACTION
Reprogram the climate control module to the latest calibration using IDS release 51.1 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2007.9 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.
NOTE
THE RAMP UP FEATURE ON STEERING WHEEL SWITCHES FOR THE CLIMATE CONTROL FEATURE WILL BE DISABLED AND IT IS REQUIRED TO PRESS EACH BUTTON INDIVIDUALLY FOR EACH TEMPERATURE DEGREE CHANGE AND/OR FAN SPEED CHANGE.
WARRANTY STATUS: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage
