All vehicles
1. Using the special tools and a suitable engine crane, align the engine with the transaxle.
Vehicles with 6-speed transaxle
2. Install the 4 transaxle-to-engine bolts.
^ Tighten to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
Vehicles with CVT transaxle
3. Install the 3 transaxle-to-engine bolts.
^ Tighten to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
All vehicles
4. Install the engine-to-transaxle bolt.
^ Tighten to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
5. Position the knock sensor (KS), install the bolt and connect the electrical connector.
^ Tighten to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
6. Attach the heat shield to the KS.
7. NOTE: A third lift chain should be used to allow for level lifting of the engine.
Using the special tools and a suitable engine crane, position the powertrain on the subframe.
8. Install the LH engine insulator upper nut.
^ Tighten to 70 Nm (52 ft. lbs.).
9. Install the RH engine insulator upper nut.
^ Tighten to 70 Nm (52 ft. lbs.).
10. Position the RH exhaust manifold heat shield and install the 3 bolts.
^ Tighten to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.).
11. Install the front transaxle stabilizer bolt.
^ Tighten to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
12. If equipped, install the upper power transfer unit (PTU) bracket and the bolts.
^ Tighten to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
Vehicles with 6-speed transaxle
13. Clean the 3 rear transaxle insulator bracket bolts using a wire brush and apply new threadlock to the threads.
14. Install the 3 rear transaxle insulator bracket bolts.
^ Tighten to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
15. Position the ground cable and install the bolt.
^ Tighten to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.).
16. Position the starter motor and install the 2 bolts.
^ Tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
17. Position the starter motor wiring and install the nuts.
^ Tighten the larger nut to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the smaller nut to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).
18. Install the starter motor terminal cover.
19. Clean the 2 roll restrictor bolts using a wire brush and apply new threadlock to the threads.
20. Position the roll restrictor and install the 2 bolts.
^ Tighten to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
21. Clean the 4 roll restrictor bracket bolts using a wire brush and apply new threadlock to the threads.
22. Position the roll restrictor bracket and install the 4 bolts.
^ Tighten to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
23. Connect the transmission control unit (TCU) wire harness.
Vehicles with CVT transaxle
24. Clean the 4 rear transaxle insulator bolts using a wire brush and apply new threadlock to the threads.
25. Install the 4 rear transaxle insulator bracket bolts.
^ Tighten to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
26. Position the ground cable and install the bolt.
^ Tighten to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.).
27. Position the starter motor and install the 2 bolts.
^ Tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
28. Position the starter motor wiring and install the nuts.
^ Tighten the larger nut to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the smaller nut to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).
29. Install the starter motor terminal cover.
30. Clean the 2 roll restrictor bolts using a wire brush and apply new threadlock to the threads.
31. Position the roll restrictor and install the 2 bolts.
^ Tighten to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
32. Attach the wiring harness to the roll restrictor.
33. Clean the 4 roll restrictor bracket bolts using a wire brush and apply new threadlock to the threads.
34. Position the roll restrictor bracket and install the 4 bolts.
^ Tighten to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
35. Attach the lower wiring harness retainers to the transaxle.
36. Attach the wiring harness retainers to the transaxle.
37. Attach the wiring harness retainer to the transaxle.
38. Connect the transaxle bulkhead electrical connector.
All vehicles
39. Attach the pin-type retainers to the subframe and connect the RH catalyst monitor sensor electrical connector.
40. Connect the power steering fluid tubes and install the bolt.
^ Tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
41. Install the power steering pressure (PSP) tube bracket bolt and connect the PSP switch electrical connector.
^ Tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
42. Using the special tool, position the powertrain and subframe in the vehicle.
43. Install the 2 forward subframe bolts and washers.
^ Tighten to 200 Nm (148 ft. lbs.).
44. Position the rear subframe brackets and install the 6 bolts.
^ Tighten the 2 larger bolts to 150 Nm (111 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the 4 smaller bolts to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
