Driveshaft

Driveshaft

CAUTION: All driveshaft assemblies are balanced. If undercoating the vehicle, protect the driveshaft to prevent overspray of any undercoating material.

The driveshaft transfers torque from the engine, through the transmission to the power take off (PTO) unit, then to the active on-demand coupling, which regulates torque to the ring and pinion and finally through the rear halfshafts to the rear wheels. The driveshaft has these features:
^ The driveshaft consists of:
- CV joints at each end
- center bearing
- a universal joint at the center bearing.
^ The driveshaft is always turning at front wheel speed.
^ The driveshaft is not serviceable.
