Steering/Suspension - Front End Noise When Turning

NOISE FROM FRONT WHILE TURNING STEERING WHEEL
FORD:
2005-2007 Five Hundred, Freestyle
MERCURY:
2005-2007 Montego
ISSUE
Some 2005-2007 Five Hundred, Freestyle and Montego vehicles may exhibit a noise coming from the front of the vehicle while turning the steering wheel at speed lower than 10 MPH (16 Km/h). This noise may be coming from the upper strut mount.
This condition is not related to noise when hitting bumps, noise at full lock turns or noise during a turn while the steering wheel is being held stationary.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Replace the existing strut mount with a revised service part. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 204-01, Strut and Spring Disassembly and Assembly.
NOTE
INSTALL ALL NEW FASTENERS DURING REASSEMBLY.
NOTE
MAKE NOTE OF THE NOTCH AND ARROW POSITION ON OLD STRUT MOUNT AND INSTALL NEW MOUNT IN THE SAME POSITION. VEHICLE ALIGNMENT IS NOT REQUIRED AFTER THIS REPAIR.
