Front Seat
NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.
Removal
WARNING: Never probe the electrical connectors on air bag, safety canopy or side air curtain modules. Failure to follow this instruction may result in the accidental deployment of these modules, which increases the risk of serious personal injury or death.
WARNING: Never probe the electrical connectors on safety belt buckle/retractor pretensioners or adaptive load limiting retractors. Failure to follow this instruction may result in the accidental deployment of the safety belt pretensioners or adaptive load limiting retractors, which increases the risk of serious personal injury or death.
NOTICE: Use care when handling the seat and track assembly. Dropping the assembly or sitting on a seat not secured in the vehicle may result in damaged components.
NOTE: The air bag warning indicator illuminates when the correct Restraints Control Module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON.
NOTE: The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
All seats
1. Position the seat to access all the seat-to-floor bolts and the safety belt anchor.
2. Depower the SRS. For additional information, refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering in the General Procedures of Air Bag Systems.
3. Remove the safety belt retractor anchor:
- Slide up and remove the cushion side shield cover.
- Remove the nut.
- Passenger seat, disconnect the Belt Tension Sensor (BTS) electrical connector.
- Pull the safety belt retractor anchor through the seat side shield and remove.
4. Pull out and remove the 2 bolt covers.
5. Remove the 2 front mounting bolts.
6. Remove the 2 rear mounting bolts.
7. Tip the seat and disconnect the seat electrical connector(s).
- If power seat, release the pin-type retainer and detach the wiring harness from the seat.
Seat with memory
8. Disconnect the memory seat electrical connector.
1. Pinch the locking tab toward the lever to release the lever.
2. Pivot the lever all the way back and disconnect the electrical connector.
All seats
9. Remove the seat.
- Fold the passenger seat forward to aid in removal.
Installation
NOTICE: Inspect the Side Protection and Cabin Enhancement (SPACE(R)) tube in the area of seat mounting for damage and distortion before installing the seat(s). Failure to follow this instruction may result in the seat fasteners not being correctly installed.
All seats
1. Position the seat in the vehicle.
2. Tip the seat and connect the seat electrical connector(s).
Seat with memory
3. Connect the memory seat electrical connector.
- Make sure the lever is all the way back and in the fully released position.
- Align the connector uniformly and lightly push in until a subtle audible click is heard and slight resistance is felt.
- Using the lever, pivot it toward the seat connector end, drawing the connector into its mating end.
- Make sure the locking tab is engaged to the retainer on the lever.
All seats
4. Position and align the seat track onto the Side Protection and Cabin Enhancement (SPACE(R)) tube and install the 2 seat rear mounting bolts.
- Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
5. Install the 2 front mounting bolts.
- Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
6. Install the 2 bolt covers.
7. NOTE: Before installation, make sure the safety webbing is not twisted and the safety belts and buckles are accessible to the occupants after installation.
Install the safety belt retractor anchor.
- Insert the safety belt retractor anchor through the seat side shield and attach it to the stud.
- Install the nut.
- Tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
- If passenger seat, connect the BTS electrical connector.
- Install the seat cushion side shield cover.
8. Repower the SRS. For additional information, refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering in the General Procedures of Air Bag Systems.
