SUBJECT
Convenience Open Feature

MODEL
R50 (Cooper), R53 (Cooper S).

SITUATION

The Convenience Open feature (opens windows and sunroof) is activated by turning the key in the door lock to the "Unlock" position, and then holding the key in that position. The feature is described in the MINI Owner's Manual.

Vehicles produced before mid-February 2002:

On these vehicles, the Convenience Open feature was coded "Active" as a factory setting. On a small number of vehicles the feature was coded "Inactive". To activate the feature, follow the procedure detailed below.

[NEW] Vehicles produced after mid-February 2002, and before September 2002:

The Convenience Open feature was deleted on these vehicles. It cannot be activated by coding. The procedure below does not apply.

[NEW] Vehicles produced after September 2002:

The Convenience Open feature will be reintroduced.

PROCEDURE

[NEW] Only applies to vehicles produced before mid-February 2002. On a customer complaint basis only, recode the ZKE using DIS:

1. Select "Coding/Programming"

2. Select "R50 Series"

3. Select "ZCS/FA Coding"

4. Select "ZKE"

5. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the coding process
