Engine - Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair
Replacing Coolant Temperature Sensor (DME)
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Read out fault memory of DME control unit
- Check stored fault messages
- Switch off ignition
- Remove intake filter housing
- Drain coolant down to below height of thermostat housing
- R50 only: Remove battery housing
Warning!
Danger of scalding!
Only carry out work on the cooling system after the engine has cooled down!
Unlock plug (1) and remove.
Remove coolant temperature sensor (2).
Tightening torque: 17 Nm
Refill and vent cooling system.
Note: Now clear the fault memory
