Removing and Installing Spark Plug Tube

Special Tools Required:

^ 11 8 500
^ 12 1 211
^ 12 1 212

Remove cylinder head cover.





Insert special tool 11 8 500 into spark plug tube and tighten lock nut (1).

Attach adaptor (2) and tighten onto lock nut (1).





Connect special tool 11 3 060 to special tool 11 8 500





Clean area around spark plug tube.

Apply a 3 mm bead of Loctite 277 sealer approximately 1 mm from the end of the tube.
Refer to BMW Parts Service.
1 = bead
2 = 1 mm from end of tube

Remove spark plug.





Install special tool 12 1 212 into spark plug bore.





Install sealer end of tube into cylinder head.

Carefully install the tube (1).

Use special tool 12 1 211 to install tube.

Remove special tool 12 1 211 when it has contacted special tool 12 1 212
