SUBJECT
Glove Box Difficult to Latch or Open
MODEL
R50 (Cooper) and R53 (Cooper S)
SITUATION
Glove box is difficult to latch or pops open on rough roads.
CAUSE
The glove box latch does not sufficiently engage the striker.
CORRECTION
Move the striker downward for more positive engagement of the latch into the striker.
PROCEDURE
^ Remove the glove box.
^ Install three A6.4, 1 mm washers (P/N 88 10 0 141 709) on each of the T20 screws holding the top of the glove box (between the glove box and the blue plastic nuts).
