Rattles from Rear Seat Backrest

MODEL
Cooper, Cooper S

SITUATION
Some customers may complain of a rattle from the rear of the car, which can be traced to a loose fit between the rear seat backrest catches and the strikers on the body.

CORRECTION
The rear seat backrest strikers have been plastic coated to reduce the play between the catch and the striker beginning with 6/03 production.

In case of a customer complaint, the improved parts may be installed on earlier production vehicles.





PARTS INFORMATION

This repair will require the following parts:

PROCEDURE
Replace the original strikers with the improved design, adjust as per Repair Instructions, section&line;52

20 080, and tighten the fasteners to 19 Nm.
