PARTS INFORMATION

PROCEDURE

A. CD CHANGER PREPARATION:

Transport Locks are installed on the bottom of the CD changer to protect the unit during shipment. Prior to installation, make sure you remove the transport locks and cover the holes with the supplied adhesive seals as described below.

1. Remove the 3 transport locks from the bottom of the CD changer. Replace locks only if a unit needs to be returned for an exchange

2. Cover the holes where the transport locks were installed with the 3 adhesive seals (1) supplied with the unit.

3. Change the position of the Horizontal/Vertical Spring Pin on both sides of the CD changer to the Vertical (V) position. (The unit is shipped with the Spring Pin in the Horizontal position.)

4. To protect the Spring Pin (1), cover the Pin area with the supplied Pin Cover (2) by aligning the two diagonally opposite holes with H and V positions.

B. CD CHANGER INSTALLATION:

1. Remove rear screw (2) from right rear trim panel (1).

2. Drill two new holes (4) (using a 5.5 mm drill bit) 15 mm (A) below each existing hole located on the right side of the mounting bracket (2). Use the new holes as reference points when marking the trim panel in step 3 & 4.

Note:
Drilling two new holes will allow the bracket and CD changer to be raised 15 mm above the carpet, located in the cargo area and will allow the carpet to be more easily raised in order to gain access to the tool kit in the Cooper or the Battery in the Cooper S.

3. Align CD Changer bracket (1) as shown and reinstall screw as indicated (2), using the newly drilled hole in location (2).

4. Mark the remaining mounting holes of the bracket on the right rear trim panel.

**Future models may have the holes pre-drilled into the trim panel and plugged**

^ For the lower hole on the right side of the bracket use the newly drilled hole in location (2).

^ Make sure lower rear alignment hole (2) is as vertical as possible before marking the panel at the rear.

^ Mark the front bracket slot (3) at the lower portion, then remove bracket (1) from vehicle.

^ With a 5 mm drill bit, carefully drill the marked locations at the front and rear of the bracket mounts.

Note:
It is only necessary to pierce the plastic of the trim panel. Do not allow the drill bit to contact the sheet metal behind the trim panel.

5. Using the 4 M4 screws (2) provided in the hardware kit, mount the CD Changer (1) in the mounting bracket (3) as shown. Prior to installing the changer into the bracket make sure that the magazine door is located on the right side of the bracket.

6. Pull back the cargo area carpeting (1) and locate Power (A1-X18180) and Audio Connectors (A2-X9960). Replace cargo area carpeting with the connectors exposed.

7. First connect Audio Connector (A2-X9960), and then connect Power Connector (A1-18180) to underside of CD Changer (1).

8. Secure the CD Changer (1) to the right rear trim panel (3) using the 3 self-tapping screws (2) provided in the hardware kit.

9. Verify that the changer is operating correctly by inserting the demo CD into the changer and check audio output of system.

10. INSTALLATION IS COMPLETE.
