SUBJECT
MK3-NAV, When Selecting "Info of destination" the NAV Resets
MODEL
R50 (Cooper), R53 (Cooper S)
SITUATION
The MK3 Navigation Computer resets to the MINI screen when "Information of destination" is selected.
CAUSE
The language in the NAV computer is not coded correctly, it is UK English instead of US English.
CORRECTION
Code the NAV computer language to US English
PROCEDURE
On a customer complaint basis only.
1. Connect diagnostic connector of DISPlus/GT1 (loaded with CD32, or higher) to the Vehicle / Turn the ignition ON (KL 15)
2. Select "Coding/Programming"
3. Select "3 ZCS/FA CODING", scroll right and follow the on-screen instructions.
4. Select "10 R50/R53 Series", scroll right
5. Select "4 Conversion", scroll right
6. Select "3 IKE/Kombi", scroll right
7. Select "2 Language", scroll right and follow the on-screen instructions.
8. At prompt "Is the CD-ROM present?" - select "Yes", but do not insert Navigation CD into the NAV Computer yet!, scroll right
9. First select the main language and then additional languages (the choices are: English, French, Italian, Spanish, German), follow the on-screen instructions and notes. Scroll right
10. Select the announcer's voice gender: male or female, scroll right
11. After activation of the automatic coding, the DIS tester tells you to follow the instructions on the monitor for Navigation CD installation, scroll right
12. Place the Navigation CD into the navigation computer CD drive.
13. Important: Do not switch the ignition OFF during the software loading procedure. While programming, the selected languages are displayed on the Board Monitor, USA for US English
14. Once the loading has been completed, remove the CD and then confirm completion by pressing the rotary push-button on the monitor
15. Turn the ignition OFF for 10 seconds, then turn it ON and conduct a functional check
16. After this step has been finished, encode the Navigation Computer in the regular manner using the path "1 Recoding".
NOTE:
In the case the coding of an MK3 NAV does not work, use a DISPlus/GT1 loaded with DIS "CD3 1" but not loaded with DIS "CD31 Update # 4" to get the module coded. Refer to SI 84 01 03.
