Removing And Installing/Replacing Complete A/C Compressor
Disconnect battery.
CAUTION!
Risk of damage!
Follow instructions for compressor replacement without fail.
NOTE:
Discharge air conditioning system.
Remove front underbody protection.
Remove condenser.
Fit one nut on each side of modular front end to retain.
Release compressor drive belt from compressor.
Vehicles with Automatic Transmission only:
Remove screw (1).
Tightening torque: Oil cooler to Rad. 4 Nm
Release cooler out of fixture as arrow shows.
Position cooler aside.
Remove dowel pins securing radiator to modular front end.
Release radiator from lower mounting brackets to gain access to A/C compressor and pipes.
Remove screw (1) securing pressure pipe to compressor.
Remove pipe and plug connection.
Remove screw (2) securing suction pipe to compressor.
Release suction pipe and plug connection.
Install hint:
Replace O-rings on both pipe connections.
Tightening torque 20 Nm.
Disconnect compressor clutch connector (1).
Release harness clip (2) from bracket.
Remove compressor, right hand side, upper screw (3).
Tightening torque 25 Nm.
Remove compressor, left hand side, upper screw (1).
Tightening torque 25 Nm.
Remove compressor lower retaining bolt (1).
Remove compressor.
Tightening torque 25 Nm.
Install hint:
If A/C system has been opened for more than 24 hours, you must replace drier insert.
Evacuate and fill A/C system.
